Minnesota Management and Budget released the 2018 November Budget and Economic Forecast on Thursday, December 6th. The forecast shows a projected surplus of $1.544 billion for the 2020-2021 biennial budget.
This positive budget outlook is good news as we continue to partner with the Best Life Alliance in calling on legislative leaders to address the 7% cut early in 2019 Legislative Session.
ARRM issued this media release on Thursday, in the release our CEO Sue Schettle is quoted as saying: “The state budget surplus in the announced forecast today highlights the opportunity state legislators have to complete the unfinished business of the 2018 Legislative Session and immediately pass legislation to end the 7 percent cuts to home and community-based service rates for Minnesotans with disabilities and restore stable funding support for people to access these critical services.”
The next budget forecast will be released in early February. The February forecast will be what the legislature and Governor-Elect Walz will ultimately use in determining their final spending priorities for the legislative biennium.
