Access Press story highlights ARRM's work at the Legislature

In a story published by Access Press May 10, the reporter outlines many cuts that were restored to Minnesotans with disabilities, and calls out ARRM's successful efforts at the Legislature this year. Below is an excerpt from that piece:

"Many groups were pleased with the bill’s signing. One winner is the Association of Residential Resources in Minnesota (ARRM), which saw several of its legislative proposals approved. ARRM began the session with one of the most high-profile legislative packages, making the case that more than 6,500 Minnesotans with disabilities are on waiting lists or residing in non-community settings while enrollment opportunities are limited. ARRM brought forward a number of ideas to reform and balance the care system, to offer individuals and their families a robust and competitive marketplace of choices that meet individual needs and are cost-effective."

Webinar offered on Feb. 10: Analysis of Medicaid in Long-Term Care and Suggestions of Reform

Terence Ng, Research Analyst at the Department of Social and Behavioral Science, UCSF will be leading a webinar entitled "An Analysis of Medicare and Medicaid in Long-Term Care and Suggestions of Reform," on February 10th, 2010 beginning at 1:00 PM Central Time.

The webinar will cover such topics as; the rise in home and community based services, the existence of waivers from federal and state coverage requirements and the changing population groups who use long-term care services. The webinar will conclude with a discussion on the need to reduce fragmentation and lack of coordination in long term care services by removing the divide between medicare and medicaid programs.
