The winning buttons have been chosen and we can't wait to tell you more! Grassroots Organizer, Madeleine Lerner, and Director of Marketing and Communications, Kevin Zabel, were able to talk to the winners and hear more about the designs. Keep reading to learn more!
Angie Ulmen - ICAN
ML: How did you come up with your design?
AU: I wanted it to be colorful and I knew I wanted the rainbow. I also looked at Pinterest.
ML: You have a really cool slogan here. How did you come up with it?
AU: I worked with staff and we came up with it together.
ML: What did you first think when you found out your design was chosen?
AU: My staff and I came up with the design together so I was happy. I was very happy and proud of myself.
ML: How do you hope people will feel when they see or wear your button?
AU: I hope they feel good about themselves and are happy.
ML: What excites you most about Day at the Capitol?
AU: Being around new people and the experience of being there.
ML: What's your favorite thing about ICAN?
AU: Having my friends and great staff there.
Debby Anderson - MRCI
KZ: How did you com up with your design?
DA: It's about loving one another. There's mental health and us all getting along with each other.
KZ: Your design really highlights inclusivity! What's your favorite part of your design?
DA: It doesn't matter if you have a disability, we're all in this together.
KZ: What did you first think when you found out that your design was chosen?
DA: I was so surprised! It was so unexpected but I was very happy.
KZ: How do you hope people will feel when they see or wear your button?
DA: We're all part of the same community. It represents everyone. They're all a part of the team and all in the same picture.
KZ: What excites you most about Day at the Capitol?
DA: Seeing the pictures and buttons. And all the people there too.
KZ: What's your favorite thing about MRCI?
DA: They're family. We support one another and I love the staff. They let me be myself.
