Today, the ARRM team is excited to welcome Ken Bence as its Director of Research, Analysis and Policy. Ken comes to the position with a background of more than two decades in health care and human services, serving most recently as a Medicaid and community health consultant, and Director of Public Health for Medica prior to that.
The Director of Research, Analysis and Policy role is a critical one for ARRM as it enters a new strategic plan focused on casting a strong vision for the future of Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) for people with disabilities and mental illnesses; a vision grounded in data analysis and research insights. Ken will immediately take on important work establishing effective data collection systems from ARRM members, as well as state and national partners, to inform the association's public policy agendas and better educate policy makers and the broader public about the value of HCBS organizations and the challenges faced by the industry.
Ken is particularly well-suited to this role as he brings extensive experience in the Medicaid payer space. In his work at Medica, Ken led the health plan's initiatives around community health and managing its Medicaid relationships. As a consultant, he has worked with multiple clients operating at the intersection of delivering outcomes-based health care and human services, and public-payer plans.
Ken received a dual MHA/MBA from the University of Minnesota and also served a term as the President of the Minnesota Public Health Association. And, if you live in Golden Valley, he might have even put out a fire or two for you over the years as an on-call firefighter!
Join the ARRM team in welcoming Ken! (contact Ken at [email protected]).
