Yesterday's edition of the Sun Sailor featured a great column on person centered technology by Sean Henderson, Hammer Residences, Inc.'s Person Centered Technology Manager.
"In no way am I advocating that technology replace people. Hammer will continue to function as a 'people helping people' organization – but now supported by the added benefits and choices the right technology provides.
We need to prepare ourselves for the change that’s coming. The disability services field needs to focus on a future of diminished 'staff power' and take advantage of the technology all around us. It can be a more independent future where anyone can attain new levels of independence and self-reliance."
To learn more about ways technology is already being used to innovate and support people with disabilities, attend ARRM's Technology Conference & Showcase on August 3rd and 4th in Bloomington. Sean is a member of the ARRM Technology Sub-Committee that is busy planning the event.
