My name is Sarah. I live in Minnetonka in District 44. I live in a Hammer Residences group home. I feel very good about living in the community and really like my roommates.
My residential staff are important to me because they help me make meals, take me to get my hair cut, go out for coffee or to a movie, and even a five week art class! When I get to do these things in the community, I feel really good. Being in the community is important to me because I see my friends, meet new people, and it’s nice to get out!
During the week, I work at Opportunity Partners, where I’m a Mailroom Assistant. I get to deliver the mail to staff in the building. I say hello to them and see how their day is going! The staff are important to me because they support me, talk about my goals, and help me do what I want to do.
Without my staff, it would be hard to get around in the community and support myself. If I didn’t have them, I would feel down, sad, and scared because their support wouldn’t be there. Without them, my life would be stressful and hard to deal with.
Because of my staff, my life is full of activities. I like all the things they do with me! My staff help me feel happy and at ease.
